Dear Professor Dang Luu,
Thank you very much for this interesting proposal on an indeed very relevant topic.
What you write about BESS strikes a cord in me, as you know, as we have about the same problem in Germany.
In the north, we have lots of wind powr but lack transmission grid capacity to ferry it south. In the south, the MV grid is often congested with solar power. The economy minister is tabling legal proposals now that would slowen the buildup of renewables, and seems to be ignoring the possibilities of BESS. Instead, she is pushing for new gas plants – in the face of the current gas and oil price crisis. (I shall withold my personal view on this, but you might guess what it is.)
Can I ask you for some more quantitve data? How many MWh capacity of utility-scale BESS have been built so far in Viet Nam, and how many are planned by the government? Are there first studies indicating the beneficial effect on the grid, if operated the right way?
As for a book project, would it be possible to also involve, as chapter authors, experts from industry, e.g. BESS manufacturers? I feel, also someone from CATL would be good.
Looking very forward to the developments,
I remain with kindest regards,
Christoph
